The research project "Plan A - Agent-based planning with uncertain and variable content planning" was successfully completed on October 31st 2012. It was funded by BMBF (the German Federal Ministry Of Education And Research) in context of the “KMU-innovative” (KMU is short for small and medium-sized enterprises) initiative.
Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO) flexis developed methods and tools for innovative planning in turbulent environments, typical for example in the rework and maintenance areas of manufacturing companies.
The various failure instances are usually based on symptoms that may – as in medicine – have different causes. To correct these failure instances different measures are necessary for the different resources – depending on the actual cause. The causes can often be detected in the course of the reworking process. Any change of the order or in the resource utilization has a direct impact on the rest of the value chain.
By continuously monitoring the jobshop planning process and immediately responding to disturbances or changes, the research project established a new prototypical planning platform, which will be further expanded and developed within the upcoming months.
