New research project for proactive planning of maintenance work

Maintenance costs of production installations as well as follow-up costs of system failures are now estimated to be 8 to 15% of gross operating assets annually, depending on the industry. In view of this cost burden intelligent maintenance management is becoming more and more important, whereby maintenance work has to be increasingly planned considering minimal time windows, varying system workloads, and versatile, flexible production systems.

The joint project SmartMaintenance therefore aims to integrate maintenance planning and production program planning. Orders from the current order pool and maintenance processes are scheduled so that a machine breakdown can be avoided and order processing can take place on time and with optimum utilization of resources.
