Sequencing – the generation of an optimized assembly sequence from the total pool of all existing orders – is a mainstay in the procedure repertoire of the increasingly variant-rich producing industry. With flexis Sequencing flexis AG offers a module that combines the benefits of stable order sequencing with the advantages of a very adaptable solution.

The goal of sequencing is the creation of a resource optimized assembly sequence taking into consideration all constraints. In doing so, an optimized sequence is not only generated for the assembly line, but also for the upstream and downstream assembly subsections. This production sequence contributes to the prevention of problem and bottleneck situations.

Sequencing is therefore a basic requirement for implementing a consistent pearl chain concept in terms of the Toyota Production System. Optimizing efficiency thereby takes center stage.

Benefits of flexis Sequencing

The production process of a variant-rich mass producer is subjected to constant changes. By making changes to the product or to the process the order slotting requirements change constantly. The planning module must therefore be adaptable. At the same time the scheduler is able to choose applicable rules from a standard library or to adapt existing rules to new constraints.  In addition to the rules for sequencing orders on the assembly line itself, such as spacing constraints, rules for upstream and downstream areas are also modeled.
