HarmoPlan - Research Cooperation with Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH
flexis develops processes and a software platform for harmonized planning in a research cooperation with Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH.

Trends towards advanced product individualization with simultaneous performance pressure can be found across all markets in automotive engineering. Audi for example offers over 1020, BMW even 1032 possibilities to combine features for a car.
To handle the resulting technical and organizational planning challenges, the cooperation project HarmoPlan, initialized and guided by flexis, develops processes and the necessary algorithms for harmonized planning of long term sales prognosis as well as short and midterm production programs. HarmoPlan is the development of harmonized planning of sales, purchasing and production programs with far reaching benefits for resource optimization, cycle organization, and capacity planning.
In the current cascading planning systems turbulences occur especially at the transition of planning horizons and responsibilities, which develop as a result of changes to planning objects (types, models, features, planned orders, customers orders). With harmonized planning those turbulences are avoided by converting the individual plans and their restrictions. This makes it possible to compare the plans directly with each other and opens up the possibility for reconciling the planning results.
The strengths of HarmoPlan lie in its approach:
- harmonized planning without unnecessary friction losses to division and business boundaries
- the creation of sufficient lead to determine external capacities
- an optimal production plan generation by direct and linked planning of resources even on different hierarchical levels
- optimal load of internal and external resources through vertical and horizontal efficiency
